A Systematic Review of the Core Components of Language Learning Strategy Research in Taiwan

Abstract As the broader field of individual differences in second/foreign language learning has grown tremendously over past few decades, its subfields have expanded with a similar intensity. Language strategies (LLS) is one such area. Developments been made regarding scope and methodology LLS research, especially. While there number reviews field’s output, targeted research specific context. With this mind, current study offers situated view Taiwan. It focuses on three core components that are essential to empirical research: (a) contexts participant characteristics; (b) theoretical-conceptual aspects; (c) methodological characteristics. Drawing journal articles systematically collected from major databases conducted by multiple researchers ensure reliability minimize bias, we provide an overview as it manifested Findings select studies also discussed. In doing so, article makes connections between Taiwan larger, global context, implications for "the road ahead." We hope will be valuable resource anyone interested reading about and/or conducting setting others.
